While I now know more about Oulu, I still feel there is much to discover. Culture, I believe, should be experienced beyond traditional spaces like museums or schools. As Oulu is set to be the European Capital of Culture in 2026, a dynamic and enjoyable way to learn about the city's culture is needed—something that can be shared with friends and family.\n\nThis idea led to the concept of Escape Room Oulu: a city-wide escape room game that encourages participants to explore Oulu collaboratively while learning about its history and culture. The game could be played at any time, promoting physical activity through walking or biking while fostering teamwork and interpersonal skills through puzzle-solving. The only things needed are a mobile-phone and internet connection.\n\nTo ensure accessibility, the game could offer varying levels of difficulty:\n\nBeginner Level: Focused on central Oulu, covering iconic landmarks such as the City Hall, the library, the theater, the market square, and Toripolliisi, among others. This level could include simple puzzles, interactive games, and quizzes suitable for all ages, allowing families with children and elderly members to enjoy together.\nAdvanced Level: Expanding to locations like Nallikari, Pyykösjärvi, Kuivasjärvi, or Puolivälinkangas vesitorni, among others. This level would require biking and feature more complex challenges for adventurous participants.\nIncorporating notable local figures, such as Blind Channel and Saara Aalto, could add a unique cultural touch. Additionally, small rewards like patches, discounts on local shops/services and other rewards would be interesting.\n\nThis initiative combines culture, education, and fun, providing a fresh way to explore Oulu and connect with its rich heritage, done for toursits and also people from here."]
