The city of Oulu utilizes the Flow of Learning for Sustainable Future (Kestävän kehityksen opinvirta) starting all the way from early childhood education and care. Its three key themes are relation to nature, circular economy and climate competency. Through these themes, the flow of learning progresses towards eco-social education. Eco-social education is born and grows through learning. Eco-social education means living responsibly on one Earth while respecting other people, species and nature.
The often difficult key themes of the flow of learning apply to all of us. The activity starts with interest and empathy towards nature and its biodiversity. You respect that which you want to take care of. That is the goal of the flow of learning: taking care of the future of Oulu and the whole planet.
