Participatory Budgeting in Oulu in 2024

Budget: €3,000

The money would be used to organize guided sport clubs for primary-school-age children in Metsokangas, Oulunsalo, Rajakylä and Kaukovainio. 

Budget: €19,200

The money would be used to acquire defibrillators for all twelve Community Facilities in Oulu. The Community Facilities are located in Haukipudas, Kaakkuri, Kello, Korvensuora, Höyhtyä, Meri-Toppila, Mylloja, Välivainio, Rajakylä, Tuira and Ylikiiminki.

The defibrillators could be used by all Community Facility users and local residents in emergencies.

Budget: €3,500

The money would be used to implement painted playgrounds on the schoolyards of four different schools. The schools would be chosen at random. The students of the school would get to participate in the design of the painted playground.

Budget: €3,000

The money would be used to arrange three open and free of charge park film picnic evenings in fall-summer in different parts of the city. One would be a children’s movie and would be organized near the Hiukkavaara School. The other two would be family movies located in the park next to Pyykösjärvi Daycare Centre and the Dammisaari Rapumaja in the Hupisaari Islands. The movie shown in Dammisaari Rapumaja would be directed to young people and adults.

The money would be used to arrange four concerts for children in different libraries.

The money would be used to hire performers to perform for senior apartment residents.

Nurkka is a Youth Centre which is open to people under 29 years old in accordance with the Youth Act. Some evenings, primarily Friday evenings, are directed to young people over 18 years old. The evenings are being arranged until September when the project will end. With the help of participatory budgeting, the activities could continue until the end of 2024.

The money would be used to acquire two new basketball baskets for both the Raksila artificial ice rink and Kaakkuri Sport Centre

Budget: €5,000

The money would be used to set up a fire pit, benches and a gravel path. The fire pit would be located in the forest next to the allotment gardening area.

The money would be used to implement an outdoor event for the whole family in Kaakkuri Sport Centre.

Budget: €4,000

The money would be used to repair the fire pit at Meriniemi Beach in Virpiniemi.

Budget: €3,000

The money would be used to acquire three benches by the ice skating rink in Hiukkavaara.

The money would be used to organize story times in different languages (for example English, Ukrainian) for people of different ages.

The money would be used to set up a fire pit, benches and a gravel path.

The money would be used to implement four Ski Schools (1–2 sessions per group) for adults. The Ski Schools would take place on the Sankivaara ski track or elsewhere based on the amount of snow.

The money would be used to set up a lean-to at the fire pit in Metsokangas.

The money would be used to set up a wooden, maximum of two meters high bench with 2–3 layers. You could bask in the day, eat snacks and tie your skates or ski boots on the bench. The bench would be located near the parking area opposite of Terminaalintie.

The money would be used to set up signposts for the route from Rakkakiventie parking area to the lean-to in Kivikkokangas. The path would be paved with gravel or chips.

Budget: €2,500

The money would be used to acquire the Climate Puzzle game for the city of Oulu’s middle schools. The Climate Puzzle is a planning and educational game that illustrates the goals of reducing carbon footprint in everyday lifestyles and guides the creation of the Low-Carbon Lifestyle Plan for 2023. In the game, the players choose actions that lower the carbon footprint, plan their realization and consider societal changes

Budget: €2,000

The money would be used to arrange two events directed for young people in Kello in the fall of 2024. The events would include relaxed hanging around with various programming and coffee. The young people of the region would participate in the planning of the events.

Budget: €11,500

The money would be used to finance a Dudesons Tour in the fall of 2024 in four of Oulu’s public schools: Martinniemi School, Niemenranta School, Paulaharju School and Jääli School. The tour would include an hour-long lecture Meidän Koulussa Ei Kiusata (No Bullying in Our School) given by the Dudesons. The Dudesons have toured schools all over Finland promoting good spirit and friendships. The most important message has been opposing and resisting bullying.

The money would be used to acquire a team bench on the Pöllönkangas School field.

The money would be used to organize specialist lectures for parents on raising children and other current themes.

The money would be used to freeze the old karting track in Kaakkuri Sport Centre for ice skating use in December 2024.

The money would be used to implement author visits to different libraries.

The money would be used to implement an outdoor bench-table set with a roof including the needed foundation work in the crossing of Iinatti and Kaakkuri Sport Centre

The money would be used to set up a 1,5–2 meters high bird watching platform north of Vartioniemi.

The money would be used to repair the Torpanmäki lean-to in Haukipudas by acquiring a new table, seats and a grill grid among other things.

The money would be used to acquire and install five benches for the elderly in the Hollihaka Park.

The money would be used to repair the playground’s safety surfacing and to acquire a table-bench set in the park.

The money would be used to build a wooden observation tower in Runtelinharju, Haukipudas. The height of the tower would be slightly higher than the canopy.

The money would be used to acquire and install two benches in the regions.

The money would be used to acquire the Crowdsorsa mobile game for the citizens to use. With the help of the game, the players will search and destroy invasive species in nature and receive a monetary reward.

The money would be used to arrange two scoop net fishing events in Kuusisaari during the fall. In the events, it would be possible to follow and try out scoop net fishing of lavaret

The event would offer information about family hobby opportunities, baby and family cafés and Oulu’s family services. At the event, families could meet other families in a similar life situation and enjoy baby theatre and other entertainment suitable for babies. The event would also include children’s music.

The money would be used to implement three asphalt basketball courts in Pateniemi in the middle of the surrounding artificial ice rink.

The money would be used to build a fitness track (a ski track in the winters) on the Kiekko jogging route in Kivikkokangas. 

Budget: €20,000

The money would be used to place information plaques on 24 different artworks around Oulu. The information plaques would be placed on the pedestals or near the artworks. The plaques would include basic information about the artwork: creator, title, creation year, material and mention of the city of Oulu’s collection.

The money would be used to acquire and install new outdoor fitness park equipment including the needed foundation work in Torpanmäki, Haukipudas.

The money would be used to set up an information plaque and a bench for the sawmill monument in Haukipudas.

The money would be used to repave the six-track, 100-metre running track in Kaakkuri Sport Centre.
